EAMusic1: Welcome AMY GRANT!!!
Question: Amy I Love YOU!! What is your
role in this new movie and when is
it on,
Question: i can't wait to see it!
AmyGrantEA: I play a blind cellist and
it airs Sunday night on CBS....8:00 CST
on Sept 26th
Question: KAAMOJI: Amy, thanks for all
your wonderful music. How different
was
Question: the movie from the videos that
you have done?
AmyGrantEA: Thank you. The great thing
about a video
AmyGrantEA: is that the music constantly
inspires
AmyGrantEA: your energy level.
It's like jogging with
AmyGrantEA: earphones on and you can run
forever, yo
AmyGrantEA: you feel like Rocky.
AmyGrantEA: Delivering the script on a
movie set
AmyGrantEA: can feel uninspiring. You
have to provide
AmyGrantEA: all the energy.
Question: Red3KM: how did you get started
in movies?
LOG COUNT: There were 2 member(s) in The
Bowl at 06:00 PM AmyGrantEA: Ever
since the "Baby baby" video, it's like
AmyGrantEA: every time I've made a video
the director has AmyGrantEA: made
a point of telling my manager that
AmyGrantEA: I should act.
AmyGrantEA: Usually, the comment is, "She
focuses
AmyGrantEA: well, she has a brain, and
she takes
AmyGrantEA: direction"
AmyGrantEA: And so, an interesting script
came along
AmyGrantEA: that was not about a singer
and I liked that.
Question: Mrpunk2u: Hi Amy, Adam here...
your music has always been a positive
Question: force, but many artists today
seem irresponsible; is it fair to
say
Question: that artists ARE role models,
and should take responsibility for
the
Question: messages their music is giving
children?
AmyGrantEA: Thanks for a light question,
there, Adam.
AmyGrantEA: ;)
AmyGrantEA: It seems like a person's art/music
AmyGrantEA: reflects their life. So, I
guess the real
AmyGrantEA: question is, is an honest
portrayal
AmyGrantEA: of somebody's life always
a good
AmyGrantEA: role model? And the answer
is, no.
AmyGrantEA: An argument can be made for
sanitizing
AmyGrantEA: everything. I have three children
of
AmyGrantEA: my own and part of me wants
to lock
AmyGrantEA: them in a padded cell to protect
them.
AmyGrantEA: People want to be lifted up
because
AmyGrantEA: life is so hard. And I think
that's why
AmyGrantEA: inspirational music will always
be
AmyGrantEA: something that people want
to hear.
Question: JKJordan98: First of all a big
hello from Germany... Amy, is there
any
Question: chance to see you live on tour
again? Europe and especially Germany
Question: are waiting for you, your music
and your smile. Love Sabrina
AmyGrantEA: How kind! That's really sweet!
AmyGrantEA: No immediate plans for overseas
travel.
AmyGrantEA: I have some amazing memoreis
AmyGrantEA: in Germany.
Question: Hugs2005: In real life do you
really play the cello?
AmyGrantEA: No. In fact, every time before
the camera
AmyGrantEA: rolled they would soak the
strings of my
AmyGrantEA: bow so you couldn't hear how
bad
AmyGrantEA: the sounds I was making with
my cello were.
AmyGrantEA: LOL
Question: SSemm:Hi Amy! What is your favorite
song to perform? thanks, Mae
AmyGrantEA: It depends on my mood. Favorites
are,
AmyGrantEA: El Shadday, Baby Baby, I Will
Remember You.
AmyGrantEA: I have sentimental attachments
to a lot
AmyGrantEA: of different songs.
Question: CecilleV18:Hi, Amy....how are
you??? 'Hope all is well.....Are you
Question: going to have a new album release
this year?
AmyGrantEA: Yes. October 18th I'm releasing
a new
AmyGrantEA: Christmas album called "Christmas
To Remember"
Question: Mrpunk2u:Hi Amy, ... now that
you've made the full-length TV movie,
"A
Question: Song from the Heart," are
you eager to act again soon, and if so,
what
Question: kind of role would you be most
interested in doing?
AmyGrantEA: I would love to act again.
Maybe not soon.
AmyGrantEA: It takes over your whole life.
I would
AmyGrantEA: enjoy playing a smaller part
in a
AmyGrantEA: feature film.
Question: *BleuEyes7: What do you do when
you have free time ?
AmyGrantEA: I have a vague memory of free
time.
AmyGrantEA: LOL
AmyGrantEA: Yesterday afternoon we lined
the backyard
AmyGrantEA: like a football field and
played touch
AmyGrantEA: football until the sun went
down.
Question: NHB10NHB:Amy, do you still drink
TAB?
AmyGrantEA: I was a real TAB Fanatic and
actually a TAB can appeared on the back
of a live album
AmyGrantEA: cover in the early 80s. I
haven't had
AmyGrantEA: one in probably 15 years.
Question: IAmTDD: What inspires you to
write your songs?
AmyGrantEA: Either intense emotion or
an album deadline.
AmyGrantEA: ;)
Question: Rodermoo: I've been a big fan
since '82. Any plans for a Pop or Live
Question: album?
AmyGrantEA: I'm supposed to deliver
a pop album to Interscope, my new record
company in June of 2000.
AmyGrantEA: I don't know the release date,
but I'm
AmyGrantEA: supposed to finish my record
by June.
Question: MichMcClur: Amy- any plans to
release another greatest hits or a
video
Question: collection?
AmyGrantEA: Well, that was sort of in
the works when A&M was dissolved.
AmyGrantEA: Right now I think Interscope
just wants AmyGrantEA: new material..
They don't want a best of.
Question: BRthbn: how old were you when
you started music
AmyGrantEA: I wrote my first song when
I was 15.
AmyGrantEA: And I signed a record contract
that
AmyGrantEA: same year. I released my first
album
AmyGrantEA: when I was 17. It was 21 years
ago!
AmyGrantEA: I'm 38 now!
Question: RomaTears: Amy, how long did
it take to film the movie?
AmyGrantEA: Four weeks.
Question: REJ001: When you first began
singing did you have stage fright and
if
Question: so how did you get over that
fear?
AmyGrantEA: I still have stage fright
sometimes.
AmyGrantEA: If you can figure it out,
let me know how to get rid of it! LOL
AmyGrantEA: It's just getting from backstage
to the front of the stage that's
nerve wracking.
AmyGrantEA: Once you're out there singing,
you realize
AmyGrantEA: you feel incredibly normal
and it's going
AmyGrantEA: to be a great experience.
Question: Hi Amy, you were involved in
helping the Columbine shooting victims
Question: and their families;that must
have been so intense emotionally, how
did
Question: it personally affect you and
your faith?
AmyGrantEA: I didn't have any answers.
From a faith AmyGrantEA: perspective,
it just made me more aware
AmyGrantEA: of how much we need God's
mercy.
AmyGrantEA: But, I think the whole experience
was
AmyGrantEA: so overwhelmingly painful
it was hard to
AmyGrantEA: really let it all in. I tried,
but it was just
AmyGrantEA: like it made my insides shut
down.
Question: Hi Amy, I really been touched
by your music and have seen you on
tour
Question: many times and I really like
your accoustic solo sets with you and
the
Question: guitar. Do you ever plan on
doing an "UNPLUGGED" album and video?
AmyGrantEA: Well, there's no immediate
plans.
AmyGrantEA: thank you! That sounds like
a great idea to me. I don't know
how interesting a whole albu
AmyGrantEA: album or video would be of
that because
AmyGrantEA: I'm not really a great guitar
player.
AmyGrantEA: But I've always had this fantasy
of
AmyGrantEA: having this great little late
night gig
AmyGrantEA: in a coffee house with a guitar,
so if
AmyGrantEA: the video thing doesn't pan
out, find me
AmyGrantEA: at the little sausalito coffee
shop!
Question: AMYGFREAK7:Amy are you gonna
watch your movie on Sunday?
AmyGrantEA: Well, CAA, my agency, had
the idea
AmyGrantEA: to throw a big party. You
know, food, invite
AmyGrantEA: a bunch of people to watch
it on a big
AmyGrantEA: screen. And that idea just
really mortified
AmyGrantEA: me. So this weekend is my
son's birthday
LOG COUNT: There were 2 member(s) in The
Bowl at 06:15 PM AmyGrantEA: and
my sister's daughter's birthday.
AmyGrantEA: So we're going to have a big
family
AmyGrantEA: get-together (about 30 of
us) and eat
AmyGrantEA: Mexican food and watch the
movie.
Question: How difficult was it for you
to play a blind person? AmyGrantEA:
Well, I have these contacts that obscured most of my vision
and I spent
AmyGrantEA: a quite a bit of time at the
Tennessee
AmyGrantEA: School for the Blind and worked
with a
AmyGrantEA: mobility instructor and they
provided
AmyGrantEA: two consultants on the set
so that in
AmyGrantEA: the event that I did something
that
AmyGrantEA: only a sighted person would
do they
AmyGrantEA: would just refilm the scene.
Question: SPARKTX13: HOW CAN I BECOME
A SINGER NOW IN LIFE ! GIVE ME SOME
ADIVE
Question: PLEASE! AND REALLY LOVE U
AmyGrantEA: Well, start singing. Singing
is like
AmyGrantEA: a muscle. If you have the
talent, it
AmyGrantEA: gets better the more you use
it.
AmyGrantEA: Surround yourself with musicians
AmyGrantEA: and writers that inspire you.
And when
AmyGrantEA: you've done everything you
can do know
AmyGrantEA: that all you can do is your
best. It doesn't
AmyGrantEA: necessarily mean that doors
are going
AmyGrantEA: to swing wide open. Even a
not-so-big
AmyGrantEA: outlet for making music, whether
it's
AmyGrantEA: in church or ina club will
satisfy that
AmyGrantEA: creative urge. It's not a
record deal,
AmyGrantEA: but at least you're doing
what you love.
EAMusic1: We have been getting this question
from alot of you and will ask amy
again!
Question: MCY03970: Amy, first of all
thanks for giving us as fans the
Question: opportunity to chat with you!
I know your Christmas album will be
out
Question: in October, but when can we
expect a non-seasonal album?
AmyGrantEA: Fall of 2000.
Question: LPVargas: I really like your
dance remixes. Do you plan on doing
more?
Question: -Lionel-
AmyGrantEA: That really is up to the record
company.
AmyGrantEA: If they feel that some song
has hit potential they try to make it
accessible to a lot
AmyGrantEA: of formats.
AmyGrantEA: I guess it was not a good
sign there were
AmyGrantEA: no dance mixes on my last
record! LOL
AmyGrantEA: My guess is, because Interscope
is
MisTinyWiny: (779) anyone caN HERE ME
AmyGrantEA: so aggressive in their promotion
department,
AmyGrantEA: that there will probably be
dance mixes
AmyGrantEA: on the next pop record.
EAMusic1: What are your plans for the
millenium?
AmyGrantEA: I don't have any yet.
Question: Skittles02: Who will be appearing
with you in your CBS
Christmas
Question: Special? when will that be?
AmyGrantEA: It will air in the first half
of December on CBS.
AmyGrantEA: I've only just started working
out the
AmyGrantEA: details of the special. The
only guests
AmyGrantEA: that I've asked so far who've
said yes,
AmyGrantEA: is 98 degrees. But I'd love
to have
AmyGrantEA: older artists which represent
the Nat King Cole genre. Somebody
like Tony Bennett
AmyGrantEA: or Ray Charles. I'd like to
have a
AmyGrantEA: contemporary of me and not
AmyGrantEA: just 98 degrees.
Question: MichMcClur: Amy, do you have
plan on cutting your hair really short?
AmyGrantEA: It's so funny that you ask
that because my good friend, Beverly and
I, were
AmyGrantEA: just talking about when we
travel, I'd like to travel across Europe
packing
AmyGrantEA: lightly with a backpack and
guitar and in the airport I'd like to
cut my hair
AmyGrantEA: next to my scalp. But I don't
want any pictures. This is not about
a look. this
AmyGrantEA: is merely functional. But
I don't know when that trip might happen.
EAMusic1: Amy wanted to mention about
the christmas special AmyGrantEA:
We're only just getting the ball rolling on this and we're a
little disorganized
AmyGrantEA: because I only just signed
the contract
AmyGrantEA: to do the special. So we've
not worked
AmyGrantEA: out everything, including
the guests yet.
AmyGrantEA: It should air within the first
two weeks of December.
EAMusic1: lots of you wanted to ask about
amy's kids
AmyGrantEA: Matt turns 12 tomorrow. And
his daddy, Gary Chapman and I gave him
a go-kart for his
AmyGrantEA: birthday.
AmyGrantEA: I am so far out of my league
in this
AmyGrantEA: decision, but Gary's a real
dare-devil.
AmyGrantEA: Gary and I went through a
divorce
AmyGrantEA: at the end of last winter
so it's been
AmyGrantEA: a tough year for all of us,
but we're
AmyGrantEA: all doing a lot better now.
AmyGrantEA: And Millie is an amazing writer.
AmyGrantEA: She's 9 and a half and is
constantly
AmyGrantEA: starting novels...chapter
1, chapter 2, chapter 3 and then she quits,
which is
AmyGrantEA: a lot like her mother.
AmyGrantEA: And Sarah will be 7 in two
weeks.
AmyGrantEA: She is cheerful and easy going
and
AmyGrantEA: the apple of Gary's and my
eye.
Question: Jmbacon21: If you could record
with any artist out there, who would
it
Question: be???
AmyGrantEA: I don't really think that
way.
AmyGrantEA: I mean there are a lot of
people who's
AmyGrantEA: voices I love. Bonnie Raitt.,
I was a long
AmyGrantEA: time James Taylor fan. I love
John Hiatt.
AmyGrantEA: I don't know. I guess my approach
to
AmyGrantEA: life and work is just wait
until
AmyGrantEA: opportunities present themselves
in a
AmyGrantEA: natural way, and then I follow
that path
Question: MakyManole:Amy... whether you
cut your hair or not, it doesn't matter...
Question: as long as you let us know WHEN
and WHERE in Europe you'll be!
Love,
Question: Maky
AmyGrantEA: That's great. The last time
I was in
AmyGrantEA: Germany, I had a night off
and I
AmyGrantEA: opened my guitar case and
sang for
AmyGrantEA: my supper on a street corner.
AmyGrantEA: And so, I guess I'll probably
do that
AmyGrantEA: again, minus hair, new songs,
unidentifiable. EAMusic1: Thank
you AMY, is their anything you'd like to say to all of
your fans?
AmyGrantEA: There are no words that can
express
AmyGrantEA: what a rich experience it
has been
AmyGrantEA: to make music for the last
21 years.
AmyGrantEA: How can I describe this? It's
like I meet people and they already
have their arms
AmyGrantEA: open ready to embrace, ready
to share
AmyGrantEA: their own story with me.
AmyGrantEA: This whole music thing has
led to a lot
AmyGrantEA: of sweet friendships. Thanks
for
AmyGrantEA: letting my songs be a part
of your life.
EAMusic1: Thank you AMY!! she will be
in the CBS movie "Music from the
Heart" on Sun nt
AmyGrantEA: Thank you! Bye everybody!
